Disable Autorun Flashdisk

copy from http://www.otakatik.com/disable-flash-disk-autorun/

Windows XP and Vista will run autorun.inf file every time you plug your USB drive or flash drive into your USB port. That’s a cool thing when first time I saw it. Unfortunately, virus makers are using autorun be their gate to infect their computers victim. Their change or make autorun to execute virus file run every time you’re using it. If you feel, you don’t need autorun, just disable it and make your computer be safer.
There are two available ways to disable it, through Administrative Tools – Group Policy (If you’re using Windows XP Professional Edition) or Registry Editor.

This time, I want to write article disable autorun which through Registry Editor.

1. As I said above, to modify Registry value, use Registry Editor. Click Start –> Run, enter regedit in box and the press Enter.

2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Policies / Explorer path.

3. Inside Explorer key, you’ll see the NoDriveTypeAutorun key.

4. By default, it has default value: 91. To disable flask disk autorun, replace it with 95. And make sure, leave type data to hexadecimal. Click OK button.

5. Close Registry Editor and Restart your computer. And then try to plug your flash drive. If you don’t see the autorun dialog, it means you success to run this trick.

You can also replace NoDriveTypeAutoran value to b5 to disable autorun on flask drive and CD-ROM.
